The book's "Asiatic Eskimo" — the Yupik of the Asian shore, as against the Alaskan varieties Yupik is drawn from. Bogoras divides them on 1-051 and 1-052 into three, and each division is a child or a member here: the Aiˊwan of the Pacific coast, whose villages this entry names directly; the Naukans of East Cape; and the Sireniks of Wuteˊen.

Its extent is its villages, because no source draws it. Asher 2007 carries the Alaskan Yupik varieties and no Asian one, "they are its comparanda, not substitutes for it". So this entry names the settlements Bogoras assigns to it and the atlas frames on their union, which claims a set of points rather than a boundary nobody drew.

Membership is read off the ethnic blocks of 1-051, not off the names. The ESKIMO. heading opens at Wuteˊen and the Aiˊwan stretch closes at Nepeˊkuten, "the last Aiˊwan village"; one of the villages between is mixed, Bogoras putting Čeˊčin at "Chukchee and Aiˊwan, half and half", so Tkachen is named here and by Maritime Chukchi both. An Eskimo name is not an Eskimo village — ᴇˊnmɪlɪn carries one above the heading, and most of 1-052's names north of Kihiˊni sit in a stretch he assigns to the Chukchee.

Gambell is on St. Lawrence Island and so outside the coastal gazetteer's run; 1-164 is where the book names it.
