Reindeer Chukchi
The inland, reindeer-breeding division of the Chukchi, as against the coastal Maritime Chukchi. Bogoras treats the division as the organising fact of Chukchee material life and states on 1-021 that their material life “is quite uniform throughout” the whole inland range, from central Kamchatka and the Upper Omolon to the Arctic coast.
Coextensive with Chukchi for the atlas's purposes, so the map is drawn at the parent's extent rather than at a boundary nobody has drawn. That is an editorial call and not a source's: the Reindeer Chukchi occupy the inland whole of the Chukchee range, which is the range, where Maritime Chukchi occupy a coastal strip of it that no source in hand delineates.
