Vulpes lagopus
The book says white fox and never arctic fox, and sets no binomial for it. It is the fox of the fur trade — 1-078's fair returns count 268 of them against 580 red, and 1-180 reports "seven qualities of white-fox skin are distinguished" in trade, so most of the fox that appears in the price lists and the tribute lists is this animal.
Blue fox is the same species, its blue morph, priced apart at the fairs (1-078, 1-079, 2-109) and not a second kind.
Filed under Vulpes: much of the older literature sets this animal as Alopex lagopus, and a reader who came looking under that genus will not find it. The book itself sets neither.
1-179 is where the two foxes are named together, and Vulpes vulpes is the other; bare fox stays on Vulpes.
