Lepus
The book says hare and sets no binomial. The entry stops at the genus: which hare it is would be a claim about the fauna of the country rather than a reading of any page, and no page decides it. 1-308's polar hare is the book's one qualified form and names no species either.
Hare Mountains is Hare Mountains, a range on the Kanchalan, and no mention of the animal. On 2-036 a Chukchee name for Cassiopeia is glossed "group of hares"; the animal is in the etymology only, and Bogoras says he never heard the constellation called hares rather than reindeer.
