Chikayeva
A settlement on the Anadyr immediately beside Under the Cliffs, a little below the mouth of the Belaya and Ust-Belaya. Bogoras’s map stacks the two labels one above the other on the same stretch, and 1-048 counts them in one breath — “Chikayeva has two families, and Under-the-Cliffs three” — adding that the first name has been borrowed by the Chukchee, which is why a Russian name sits on a Chukchee settlement. 1-175 has the reindeer leaving the Palpal for it.
No coordinate. Under-the-Cliffs is at 65.4099 173.4458, and the map puts this a little west of it — but the crop that shows the two labels carries no graticule, so “a little west” cannot be turned into a number without inventing the scale. Adjacency is what the evidence supports and adjacency is what is recorded.
