Bogoras's "Red River" is the Anadyr tributary feeding Red Lake — озеро Красное, the largest lake of the Anadyr lowland, named for the reddish rock of its shore and joined to the Anadyr by two channels. That relation is what identifies the river, which is otherwise thinly attested on modern maps. Красная is the river, feminine with река; Красное is the lake.
