Coregonidæ
The whitefish family, and the book's own word: 1-188 opposes it to Salmonidæ geographically — Salmonidæ spawn up to the mouth of the Anadyr on the Pacific, "On the Arctic shore, Coregonidæ begin to be abundant from Chaun Bay, and especially from the mouth of the Kolyma westward." 1-190's net passage repeats the split, which is why Coregonus and its five species sit here and not under Salmonidæ.
Modern taxonomy has folded this family into Salmonidae as the subfamily Coregoninae. That is a fact about the last century of ichthyology and not about this page, and this entry follows the page.
